Welcome back to my blog! Yes, I’ve been quiet. Well… no I really haven’t. Some of you may have seen and spoken to me in the shop, or on social media. Still, hello and welcome, I’m glad you’re here. I’ve been designing and sewing a lot these past few months to the point where I feel I should open up more on the projects and processes. Something that has been pressing on my brain as our weather here in Charlotte, NC flip flops from Spring to Summer and back again, is this year’s top spring fashion trends.
Typically, I do not follow the trends, however this year my style and trends have intersected. It’s not a bad thing, we’re let’s just say on a similar wavelength this season. I like for my style and the things I make to be different from what you would normally find in a store. Cuter and more personalized, you know? Keep reading, you’ll see what I mean.
First, let’s briefly chat about the trends, then some tips on how to style them for your own unique look.
* Pastel colors * Floral prints
* Flowy fabrics * Lace
* Denim * White sneakers
* Straw hats * Ruffle details
* Statement earrings
Pastels: A classic spring color choice, and they're perfect for creating a soft and feminine look. I made the green pastel high low t-shirt top pictured above. And the pastel purple floral lace high low top below. You can try pairing a pastel dress with a denim jacket and white sneakers. Hello Beautiful!
Florals: Another must-have for spring. They come in a variety of styles, from delicate and dainty to bold and bright. I’ll do both but usually not at the same time.
Denim: A versatile fabric that can be dressed up or down. For a casual day out, try pairing a pair of distressed jeans with a flowy floral top or a dressy skirt.
White: CLASSIC! White always looks chic. Wearing a white dress, top, or skirt with sandals or heels is always a good chic look. Try wearing a white dress with a denim jacket and heels, Hey Hey Hey!!!!.
Straw hats: A great way to protect yourself from the sun and add a touch of style to your outfit. Check out the new hats I made. I added them to the online boutique. These are just a few of them. You should really get one before they’re gone, I only made a few.
Ruffle details: A feminine and playful way to add a touch of spring to your wardrobe. Try wearing a ruffled top, skirt, or dress. The yellow ruffle sleeve tops I put in the shop flew off the racks. That’s good, don’t be afraid of the ruffle! Right now, I have a pastel pink ruffle sleeve top out. Go check them out if you’re in the area. I have white stretch capri jeggings and the full-length pant version to match. They would look cute with sneakers or sandals.
Accessories
These are the outfit poppers and toppers that express your unique style. They’re my favorite for Spring because I can wear’em without them getting them caught in my coat and snagging my outfit. Also, because in spring I’m not hot and sticky like I am in summer with its 95+ degree days and insane interior car temps.

Sunglasses – Yes we need these, whether or not we’re on a beach.
Earrings – I made some of these too. I always wear these…Everyday.
Bracelets- Gotta have arm candy to go with your outfit!
Necklaces – Yes, yes, yes. Long or short I’m all for it!
When styling these fashion trends, it's important to keep the occasion in mind and your comfort. What good is looking A+++ if it hurts or is uncomfortable. Nah, we don’t do that over here. I always ask my customers how do you feel in a piece just for this reason, cause when you feel good in an outfit it’s way easier to look good in it.
Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors and patterns. You can mix and match different trends to create your own unique look. Spring and any season really is a great time to have fun with fashion and express yourself and your style. Spring is a time for new beginnings, and it's the perfect time to update your wardrobe (usually because it’s less expensive to do so than winter since the fabrics are lighter). With so many great colors and trends to choose from, you're sure to find something that you’ll love.
